Travel Programs WELCOME TO THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD’S TRAVEL PROGRAM Please follow registration procedures listed in the back of the catalog. Trip registration is through the Recreation and Community Ser- vices Department at Lakewood City Hall. All trips depart from the Burns Community Center, 5510 Clark Ave. in Lakewood unless otherwise noted. Participant parking is available in the southeast parking lot of Burns. All destinations are wheelchair accessible unless indicated otherwise. Please notify us when registering if you use a wheelchair or other mobility aid. It is recommended that partici- pants visit each venues' website for a complete list of restrictions and policies. Departure and return times may be adjusted due to certain circumstances beyond our control. Please register early as seating is on a first come, first served basis. Registration is non-transferable. No walk-ins. If you have questions concerning registration, call (562) 866-9771 ext. 2408 or for questions concerning trip details call (562) 924-0149. Refunds will be granted only if the City is notified, the trip is full, and the space can be resold by the City of Lakewood prior to the day of the trip. All three of these conditions must be met to authorize a refund. There is also a $5 administrative fee per person. Guests can journey through the amazing elements of The Hun- tington including 16 themed gardens, three art galleries, the library, and current special exhibitions. Everyone is encouraged to explore the 130 acres of magnificent gardens and buildings including the magnificent collections of rare books, manuscripts, and famous works of art including Gainsborough's "The Blue Boy" and an illumi- nated manuscript of Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales. Bring a picnic lunch or dine at Jade Court Cafe, 1919 Cafe, or Red Car coffee. Lunch is on your own. No outside alcoholic beverages. No picnick- ing allowed in the gardens. The trip is rain or shine so please dress appropriately. The Gardens are handicap accessible but involve a substantial amount of walking on various flat, hilly, paved, and rocky surfaces.
