APRIL IS VOLUNTEER MONTH Make a Difference and Volunteer Lakewood Volunteer Day: Join your family, friends, or cowork- ers on April 18 and plan to be a part of over 400 residents who vol- unteer to assist with yard and outside home maintenance repair at homes of low income, disabled or senior residents. Coaches and volunteers are needed for team and individual sports, as well as tournaments and other related events. A certified volunteer form is necessary to participate. Lakewood will host the 29th Annual Volunteer Day on Saturday, April 18 an event that has attracted many volunteer groups over the years to come out to work on a variety of clean-up projects at private homes, schools, and parks. Is there someone in your neighborhood who needs help with their home? Qualifying sites would consist of private homes in Lakewood owned by someone who: • Needs help with outside jobs such as weeding, light painting, yard work or trimming. • Is unable to complete the work themselves (due to age or disability). • Is unable to afford to hire someone to do it. If you meet the selection criteria, or if you have a friend, family member or neighbor who would benefit from a clean- up project call Burns Community Center by March 20 to have your home considered.
