Travel Programs WELCOME TO THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD’S TRAVEL PROGRAM Please follow registration procedures listed in the back of the catalog. Trip registration is through the Recreation and Community Services Department at Lakewood City Hall. All trips depart from the Burns Community Center, 5510 Clark Ave. in Lakewood unless otherwise noted. Participant parking is available in the southeast parking lot of Burns. All destinations are wheelchair accessible unless indicated otherwise. Please notify us when registering if you use a wheelchair or other mobility aid. It is recommended that participants visit each venues' website for a complete list of restrictions and policies. Departure and return times may be adjusted due to certain circumstances beyond our control. Please register early as seating is on a first come, first served basis. Registration is non- transferable. No walk-ins. If you have questions concerning registration, call (562) 866-9771 ext. 2408 or for questions concerning trip details call (562) 924-0149. Refunds will be granted only if the City is notified, the trip is full, and the space can be resold by the City of Lakewood prior to the day of the trip. All three of these conditions must be met to authorize a refund. There is also a $5 administrative fee per person. Lavendar Festival at 123 Farms Immerse yourself in the sights, scents, and flavors of summer at the 22nd Annual Lavender Festival at 123 Farms. Stroll through fragrant lavender fields, capture stunning sunset photos, and watch as the farm comes alive at night with the glow of more than 100,000 twinkling lights. Enjoy live musical performances in a relaxed, open-air setting and sample a variety of lavender-inspired treats. Guests can also explore a wide range of vendors, participate in other lavender-themed activities, and enjoy a tractor ride (on your own). This enchanting evening blends natural beauty, entertainment, and seasonal flavors for a truly memorable outing. Please arrive at 2 p.m. for check in. Check out the amazing live programs in the Samuel Oschin Planetarium (nominal fee). See one of the daily or monthly programs in the Leonard Nimoy Event Horizon. Check out the many exhibits, or enjoy the views of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign. Enjoy something to eat or drink at the Café at the end of the Universe (on your own) or buy a fun memento at the Stellar Emporium Gift Shop. Volunteers from the Los Angeles Astronomical Society, the Los Angeles Sidewalk Astronomers, and The Planetary Society will be on hand for a public star party to assist visitors with trying out a variety of telescopes and a chance to get a look at the Sun, Moon, visible planets and other objects.
